I have been through standard treatment for 2 1/2 years, including radiation and chemo. I was on Opdivo for 6 months, but it didn't work! It landed me in the hospital with a collapsed lung in February 2016! YIKES!
Now I'm going to Anschutz CU Medical Center in Denver for a trial pill called Trametnib that has already been approved for Melanoma. I am 1 of 4 patients on it nationwide and they hope to get 50 patients for this targeted therapy. When I was in the hospital back in February, my lung cancer metastasized to my skin, which only happens in 1% of lung cancer patients. I guess it's better than going to an organ (trying to stay positive!)! Because of it being on my skin (chest) it is easy to see the trial pill is working, as it gets fainter and diminishes in size. I'm very grateful for this!
I am experiencing side effects such as rash on my face, occasional fatigue, swelling in arms and legs. But the important thing is my cancer rash is better and I am hoping for remission. I will get a CT scan next week to make sure what we are seeing is true, and I got a MRI on my brain today to make sure it is clear. Your prayers are greatly appreciated!
