Northwell Health and White Plains Hospital Join the American Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE Walk Westchester as Top Sponsors

The American Lung Association today announced that Northwell Health and White Plains Hospital are joining the seventh annual LUNG FORCE Walk Westchester as the events top sponsors.  The LUNG FORCE Walk encourages participants to get active to support lung health, end lung cancer and other lung diseases, and fund the COVID-19 Action Initiative. Additional sponsors include Hudson Valley Renegades, and WJMS media. 

“Our LUNG FORCE Walk Westchester aims to bring awareness to lung disease, and honor all those who have experienced lung disease, either personally or through a loved one,” said Lisa Burdzy for the American Lung Association in Metro New York. “Sponsors like Northwell Health and White Plains Hospital empower us to broaden our reach, develop quality education and advocacy programs, and execute a truly fun and rewarding event for our community. We are so grateful to them for playing a part in our mission to save lives by improving lung health.”

Participants joining the LUNG FORCE Walk Westchester in person will complete a 1.5 or 5k route around the Manhattanville College campus. The event will also include an impactful opening ceremony that includes remarks from our medical honoree, Dr. Samantha D'Annunzio from Westmed Medical Group, personal stories from LUNG FORCE Heroes, a fitness warm-up, and the opportunity to complete a LUNG FORCE Action passport that encourages lung health education.  Money raised at the LUNG FORCE Walk will fund the Lung Association’s annual research, education and advocacy efforts for lung cancer, chronic lung diseases and COVID-19.

Jaymie Bowles, lung cancer survivor and LUNG FORCE Walk participant said, “I am so excited for this event for 3 reasons. First, it is back in person, which is something we have all been wanting. The energy of the crowd is always contagious and awe-inspiring. Second, my media company, WJMS Media, is able to be a part of this huge day for scientific research and development and I am grateful that I have a platform that is founded on a love for health and wellness. And third, because as a lung cancer warrior myself, I am humbled by the hard work of organizations like the American Lung Association to keep ME in the fight!” Bowles is the owner of WJMS Media, the Raise Your Voice Sponsor of the LUNG FORCE Walk Westchester. 

Participants can also register to “Walk Your Way,” and participate by walking in their own neighborhoods, tracking their activity online through the new LUNG FORCE app (available for all registered walkers on Android or iPhone).
