Hundreds to Run for Lung Health at 46th Annual Radnor Run

Registration Open, American Lung Association Invites Runners and the Community to Take Strides To End Lung Disease

An iconic event for local runners and the community, the Radnor Run will celebrate its 46th year on Sunday, November 5 at 8:00 a.m. and kick off Lung Cancer Awareness Month. Registration is now open.

The event takes place at the Radnor Township Building & Grounds with a fundraising goal of $110,000 to support research, advocacy and education for lung diseases, including lung cancer and COVID-19..

Participants can choose between completing a timed and certified 5-mile race on a challenging course through the beautiful backroads of Wayne, PA; or a 1-Mile Run in which all finishers receive a medal. The event also offers an untimed 2-Mile Trail Walk for adults and youths of all ages on the scenic and stroller/wheelchair accessible Radnor Trail (run the 5 or 1-Mile race and join your friends and family on the Trail Walk). Registrants can also opt to participate virtually in their own neighborhoods. All registered participants are encouraged to follow the Facebook page for training tips and event updates.

“In its 46th year, the Radnor Run continues to be a solidifying and wonderful community event that attracts runners from all over and helps save lives by raising awareness and funds for lung diseases like lung cancer, asthma and COVID-19,” said Caroline Hutchinson, Executive Director at the Lung Association in Pennsylvania. “In Delaware County alone, there are 46,746 adults and 8,245 children living with asthma. Runners have a deep appreciation for lung health and a keen awareness of the importance of being able to breathe. This event is critical in helping to improve lung health and the air we all breathe.”

Money raised through the Radnor Run supports lung disease research through the American Lung Association. Last year, the Lung Association funded $13.2 million for nearly 130 lung health research grants, including a local award to Megumi Shigematsu, PhD, Jefferson University and resident of Philadelphia with a $50,000 Catalyst Award. Over the past three years the Lung Association has funded nearly 1.4 million dollars in local lung disease research at Temple Lung Center, Fox Chase Cancer Center and Thomas Jefferson University.

Participation and donations also support local advocacy and education for clean air, tobacco use including vaping, COVID-19, COPD, lung cancer and asthma.
