This study identified the role of a protein called chitinase-3-like-1 (CHI3L1) in the immune response to nematode worm infection in mice. This is an important finding because previous studies have shown higher levels of this protein in the lungs and blood of people with asthma, and understanding how it affects immune response can lead to better treatment for asthma.
