This grade tells you if your state has taken action to limit or prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products. Flavored tobacco products play a key role in attracting and addicting kids to these deadly products. In 2020, over 80% of high school students and over 70% of middle schools students who vape, used flavored e-cigarettes.
Tobacco companies have also focused their marketing of menthol cigarettes on certain communities, particularly Black Americans. This has resulted in nearly 85% of Black persons who smoke using menthol cigarettes. States must step up and fill a void in leadership at the federal level on flavored tobacco products by ending their sale in all locations.
