This grade tells you if your state has taken action to limit or prohibit the sale of flavored tobacco products. Flavored tobacco products play a key role in attracting and addicting kids to these deadly products. In 2023, about 89% of high school student and middle school students who vape used flavored e-cigarettes.

Tobacco companies have also focused their marketing of menthol cigarettes on certain populations, particularly Black communities. This has resulted in over 80% of Black persons who smoke using menthol cigarettes. Even if menthol cigarettes and flavored cigars are prohibited at the federal level it could take years to take effect, so states and local communities must act on flavored tobacco products by ending their sale in all locations.
