The American Lung Association calls for the following actions to be taken by Texas' elected officials to reduce tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke:
- Significantly increase funding for tobacco prevention and cessation programs through the Department of State Health Services;
- Increase the cigarette tax and close the tax loophole on e-cigarettes and nicotine products; and
- Provide dedicated funding and vigilant policies for enforcement of Texas tobacco control laws.
