Oxygen Ball Raises $238K to End Lung Disease

Event proceeds also endeavor to support pandemic prevention

On May 6th, 275 attendees raised $238,000 for the American Lung Association in Wisconsin’s Oxygen Ball – Bon Voyage event. In addition to rallying against lung cancer and lung disease, patrons’ support went towards the Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative to treat and mitigate the onslaught of respiratory virus.

“It was an unforgettable evening for a great cause,” said Megan Cordova, executive director of the Lung Association. “Being able to safely gather together in celebration was—in and of itself—a triumph over the same pandemic we are aiming to end through our Action Initiative.”

Participants enjoyed cocktails, exquisite cuisine, and the thrill of bidding on an eclectic selection of items throughout the evening. The offerings up for grabs included tickets to live sporting events and other entertainment, credits for some of Wisconsin’s most renowned restaurants, and a plethora of desirable goods ranging from family board games to fine art.

The opulent ballroom of the Hyatt Regency hotel in Milwaukee transported guests to an unparalleled destination consisting of equal parts fundraising, formality, and fun. This year’s Bon Voyage theme let attendees embark on a journey to end lung disease, returning to the annual gala’s in-person format for the first time since the pandemic’s beginning.
