Four Chicago Women to be Recognized as Outstanding Mother Honorees

Leaders from University of Chicago, local healthcare and women-owned companies to be recognized at annual event, May 12

Today, the American Lung Association in Greater Chicago, in partnership with the National Mother’s Day Council, announced the 2022 Outstanding Mother Awards honorees. These four women in the Chicagoland area will be recognized for their ability to build successful careers and nurture their families while making an impact in the community.

  • Susan Sher, Senior Advisor to the President, The University of Chicago Sher is a senior advisor to the president of the University of Chicago, where she serves as the University liaison to the Obama Foundation. Previously, she served in the White House as assistant to the president and chief of staff to First Lady Michelle Obama. She also served as associate White House counsel, where she worked on health care reform and legal issues relating to the First Lady’s office. Sher has two sons, Evan and Graham and two stepchildren, Joanna and Mike.​     
  • Cheryl Rucker-Whitaker, MD, MPH, FACP, Chief Executive Officer, Complete Care Management Partners, LLC – Rucker-Whitaker is an accomplished physician executive and transformational entrepreneur who has shaped solutions to help close the health disparities gap. She was a cofounder of NextLevel Health Partners, Inc., the only African American- owned Medicaid Managed Care company in the country. Currently, Rucker-Whitaker is the chief executive officer of Complete Care Management Partners, LLC, which provides delegate care management services to payors and health systems. She is married to her best friend of 29 years with two teenage children.
  • Jill M. Krueger, President and Chief Executive Officer, Symbria, Inc. – Kreuger is president and chief executive officer of Symbria, Inc., a leading national developer and provider of innovative, outcome-driven programs that enhance the lives of the geriatric population. Under Krueger’s leadership, Symbria has grown from $300,000 in revenue to more than $130 million. Previously, Krueger was a partner at KPMG where she worked with senior living providers and major health systems to develop and implement elder care strategies. Krueger is the proud mother of two children, Christine and Kenneth (Chase).
  • Monique Burt Williams, Chief Executive Officer, Cadence Counsel – Williams is chief executive officer of Cadence Counsel, a certified Women’s Business Enterprise and sister corporation to both Lateral Link and Bridgeline Solutions. She is deeply committed to helping corporations and other organizations diversify their in-house legal divisions as they strive to reflect a global economy. Prior to Cadence Counsel, she worked for a prominent litigation boutique, and subsequently joined the legal division of a Fortune 100 workforce solutions company. Williams is married to her husband with two sons.

The 2022 Outstanding Mother Awards event, which will be hosted by NBC Chicago 5 meteorologist, Alicia Roman, is on Thursday, May 12 at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. The event offers sponsorship opportunities as well as chances to donate throughout the evening. Funds raised will support lifesaving research, education and advocacy efforts for the Lung Association’s mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. 

The Lung Association is committed to the health and safety of its attendees. Guests, staff and volunteers are required to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend the 2022 Outstanding Mother Awards.
