Chicago Outstanding Mother Awards Raises Nearly $150K for Lung Health

Opulent award ceremony held at Hyatt Regency Chicago

Last night, the Lung Association in Greater Chicago filled the local Hyatt Regency ballroom with 200 attendees to recognize four outstanding mothers who have gone above and beyond in bolstering their communities. The event raised close to $150,000 to support the nearly 1.7 million people in Illinois living with lung disease.

“It was heartwarming and inspiring to witness these high-achieving individuals receiving the honor they deserve,” said Kristen Young, executive director of the Lung Association. “Our community is an infinitely better place because of incredible mothers such as the four we hosted.”

NBC Chicago meteorologist Alicia Roman hosted the event, which honored University of Chicago Senior Advisor, Susan Sher; Complete Care Management Partners Chief Executive Officer, Cheryl Rucker-Whitaker; Symbria, Inc. Chief Executive Officer, Jill Krueger; and Cadence Counsel Chief Executive Officer, Monique Burt Williams.

“At this event, we were in the presence of greatness,” said Young. “This dynamic quartet of leaders fully embodies the Lung Association’s ideal of making each breath count.”

The Lung Association selected award recipients in the Chicagoland area for successfully building their careers, nurturing their families, and improving their communities. The event funds benefit lung health research, education and advocacy that directly impacts families affected by lung disease.
