Orlando Doctor Swaps His Scrubs for Stage Lights for Lip Sync For Lungs

On November 10, local radiologist Rick Ramnath, M.D., will trade in his scrubs for stage lights at the American Lung Association’s Lip Sync For Lungs event at Novel Lucerne.

For the event, Dr. Ramnath will compete against three other Orlando celebrities in an epic show-down to win the title of Lip Sync Battle Champion. Money raised at Lip Sync For Lungs will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease.

“As a radiologist, I have been a strong advocate for lung cancer screening with low dose CT scans. In fact, my radiology practice, Neuroskeletal Imaging, was one of the first in Central Florida to offer those scans in 2015. So, when the American Lung Association reached out to me to become involved, it was a very easy decision for me. Their mission to advocate for lung health and to raise awareness of a deadly disease like lung cancer was something I was very honored to become a part of,” said Dr. Ramnath. 

The cause is personal for Dr. Ramnath as well. Both his mother and uncle passed away from the disease. 

“Having witnessed the years of emotional and physical tolls that lung cancer can take on someone is a very humbling experience. My personal connection just further cemented my resolve to fight this deadly disease in any way I can,” he said. “Every opportunity I can get to help spread the word of advocating for lung health, I'm going to take it. Lip Sync for Lungs has the potential to reach so many people in both an entertaining and informative way and I just know people will be motivated to help support the American Lung Association because of it.”

At the event, Dr. Ramnath will lip sing and dance to raise money and awareness for lung cancer and lung disease. To give a little sneak peek, he said this his “performance might just take your breath away.”
