Yesterday, the State of Nevada Climate Initiative released it’s 2020 State Climate Strategy to illustrate pathways to achieving Nevada’s climate change targets. Laying out strategies to achieve carbon reduction benchmarks, the Climate Strategy provides a path forward to support a healthier future for all Nevadans.
“The Nevada Climate Strategy is a great step towards building a healthier, more sustainable future for all Nevadans” said Shannon Proctor, Executive Director of the American Lung Association in Nevada. “We know that we have a lot of work ahead to protect our air and our health in the face of climate change, and that our health depends on strong action now.”
“Air pollution, and worsening air quality, is contributing to a wide range of health issues like asthma, heart attacks, lung cancer, and in some cases, premature death,” said Melissa Ramos, American Lung Association Manager for Clean Air Advocacy, “As Nevada moves forward with implementing the State Climate Strategy, we need to prioritize public health and support more equitable access to cleaner, healthier transportation and energy options to protect the health of all Nevadans.”
