Local Pulmonologist Climbs for His Patients on May 7th

Will race up 834 steps at Principal Park for Lung Association event

Matthew Trump, DO, FACP, FCCP will climb 834 steps for his patients at The Iowa Clinic in the American Lung Association in Iowa’s Fight For Air Climb, presented by EMC Insurance Companies, at Principal Park on Saturday, May 7. The Iowa Clinic is a sponsor of this year’s event.

“The Fight For Air Climb is a way for me to give back and promote all the good things that the American Lung Association does to help our patients out,” said Trump. “The Lung Association does so much in the way of research and advocacy to promote lung health and help promote what I do as a physician. I climb for my patients.”

The Des Moines Fight For Air Climb raises funds to help end lung disease through lifesaving research, local programs and advocacy. Participants in this year’s event can take 834 stair steps or challenge themselves by climbing the same route up to four times in the event’s new “Single, Double, Triple, Homerun Climb Challenge.” For those who can’t attend the event, the Lung Association is also offering a “Climb Your Way” option.

Trump’s first Climb was in 2019 and he had a blast. This year he is participating with his colleagues at The Iowa Clinic, which decided to become a sponsor for the 2022 Des Moines Climb.

“The Iowa Clinic is committed to lung health and this is a great opportunity to support an important organization and all they do for patients,” said Trump.

Trump is looking forward to getting outside in the fresh air at Principal Park and seeing all the people in the community come together to support lung health and the Lung Association.

“Patient education and understanding of their condition are crucial to having the best possible outcomes. The Lung Association is an excellent resource for patients battling lung disease,” said Trump. “Public health advocacy helps improve the air we breathe and can improve lung health for everyone. Research helps advance the treatments and knowledge we have to better fight chronic respiratory disease and improve the lives of our patients.”
