Today, the American Lung Association in Kentucky announced that it will host the legendary Fight For Air Climb in Louisville presented by Kindred Healthcare outdoors for the first time at Lynn Family Stadium on February 6th.
Registration is open for the eighth year of the Fight For Air Climb in Louisville through January 25th. The event typically takes place in the stairwells of the PNC Tower but was reimagined as an outdoor climb challenge for the safety of participants, volunteers and staff. The organization is also offering a “Climb Your Way” option for those who can’t make it to the physical event.
The event is open to all individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to tackle the stadium stairs, totaling 2,000 steps. For those looking for an extreme experience, the event offers a “Triple Climb,” where participants climb three times around the Lynn Family Stadium for a total of 5,400 steps (the equivalent of a 5k).
“Without missing a beat, we are headed outdoors, onward and upward for our legacy Fight For Air Climb event. There is tremendous interest in the event and the rare opportunity to climb in Lynn Family Stadium,” said Deena Adams, executive director of the Lung Association. “During this time, it is more important than ever to support lung health, so on February 6, we are climbing to bring an end COVID-19, lung cancer and lung disease, and ensure healthy air for all.”
“Masks will be required at the event and social distancing will be practiced. The safety of participants, staff and volunteers is always our number one priority. We are continually monitoring local conditions that might affect the Climb. Everyone is encouraged to check our Climb website for the most up-to-date information leading up to the event.”
Money raised at the Fight For Air Climb will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
Registration for the Fight For Air Climb is $35 and includes a $100 fundraising minimum. The “Triple Climb” option is $35 and includes a $300 fundraising minimum. For more information, and to register, visit FightForAirClimb.org/Louisville.
