Tampa Entrepreneur Lip Syncs to End COVID-19

Fundraising event to raise money to end lung disease, COVID-19

Tampa entrepreneur Ellie Finehout will lip sync and dance on January 21 to support the American Lung Association in Florida. Through the virtual Lip Sync For Lungs event, Finehout will join other local celebrities to execute fun performances, all to win the top spot of Lip Sync “VIRTUAL LIVE BATTLE” Champion. The event raises money to end lung disease and supports the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative.

Finehout is a serial entrepreneur in Tampa. After spending almost 20 years in human resource outsourcing, she started her boutique consulting firm, Ascendalyst. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit the U.S. in March, Finehout was inspired by the many virtual happy hours. She created Dun at Home, a new business to make virtual events more engaging, while supporting local servers and bartenders.

The pandemic also impacted Finehout on a personal level, so when she was asked to participate in Lip Sync For Lungs, she knew she had to get involved.

“Both of my children got COVID-19,” she said. “Thankfully, neither were hospitalized, but they are still experiencing respiratory issues.”

Finehout’s performance will focus on humor as a way to highlight the critical need to support the work of the Lung Association.

“Our performance is going to be entraining and you are going to laugh one way or the other,” said Finehout. “Lung health is more critical than it has ever been before. I’m excited to have the opportunity to support the American Lung Association, especially in light of issues so many are still experiencing due to the COVID-19 virus.”

Money raised at the event fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.

For the event, the celebrity with the most votes will win the top spot of Lip Sync “VIRTUAL LIVE BATTLE” Champion. Votes are $1 each, so $25 will get Finehout 25 votes, and $100 will get her 100 votes. Learn more about the event, get tickets and vote for Ellie Finehout at LipSyncForLungsTampa.org
