The American Lung Association has partnered with the Arizona Diamondbacks to host the Fight For Air Climb outdoors for the first time at Chase Field on March 27.
Registration for the Fight For Air Climb in Phoenix is open now through March 24 at FightForAirClimb.org/Phoenix. The event typically takes place in the stairwells at CityScape but was reimagined as an outdoor challenge for the safety of participants, volunteers and staff. The organization is also offering a “Climb Your Way” option for those who can’t make it to the physical event.
The event is open to all individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to tackle the famed stadium stairs. For those looking for an extreme experience, the event offers an upper deck climb, where participants climb the steep upper deck stairs after they’ve tackled the lower deck stairs.
“Without missing a beat, we are headed outdoors, onward and upward for our Fight For Air Climb. There is great interest in the event and the rare opportunity to climb in Chase Field,” said Elizabeth Walton, executive director of the Lung Association in Arizona. “During this time, it is more important than ever to support lung health, so on March 27th, we are climbing to bring an end COVID-19, lung cancer and lung disease, and ensure healthy air for all.”
Money raised at the Fight For Air Climb will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests, and treatment therapies.
Masks will be required at the event and social distancing will be practiced. The safety of participants, staff and volunteers is a top priority of the Lung Association. Local pandemic conditions will be continually monitored through the day of the Climb. Everyone is encouraged to check our Climb website for the most up-to-date information leading up to the event.”
