“We join the nation to mourn the loss of eight people, six of whom were Asian-American women, on March 16 in Atlanta. We cannot ignore this horrific event and the rise in violence our country has seen in the past year toward Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders. The American Lung Association denounces all forms of discrimination, racism, misogyny and violence, including increased violence toward the Asian-American community.
“This is a tragedy for everyone, and the Lung Association will continue to combat racism and support all communities facing inequities and racial or gender violence in order to create a better future.
“We stand with the Asian-American community during this very challenging time.”
