ORLANDO, FL | April 19, 2021
Today, the American Lung Association in Florida announced that AdventHealth has signed on as the presenting sponsor of the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, set for May 8.
The LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is a unique charity event, where participants will complete a 5k through SeaWorld Orlando to raise funds and awareness to support the Lung Association’s work to end lung cancer and all lung diseases.
“Through events like the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, we are able to fund our work to improve air quality, educate residents on lung health and COVID-19, and help people who live with lung cancer,” said Janelle Hom, executive director for the Lung Association. “But we can’t do it alone. Our partnership with AdventHealth helps us provide vital support to the Orlando community and residents throughout Florida. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those living with lung cancer, this support makes people’s lives better every day.”
AdventHealth’s Central Florida Division encompasses more than 20 hospitals and ERs in the seven counties in and surrounding metro Orlando. The world-class hospitals, combined with a comprehensive outpatient care network, sees more than 3.4 million patient visits annually. AdventHealth Orlando — the division’s flagship campus — boasts nationally and internally recognized programs and serves as a major tertiary referral hospital for much of the Southeast, the Caribbean and Latin America. The organization has an expansive research portfolio with more than 500 clinical trials in progress.
“It is key to our company mission to not only provide outstanding patient care, but also support the communities where so many of our employees work and live. The American Lung Association’s work to support clean air and healthy lungs affects us all, so we are proud to be involved with the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk,” said Mark A. Socinksi, MD, Executive Medical Director of AdventHealth Cancer Institute. “We hope to see our community come together for a fun and inspiring event.”
Money raised at the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung cancer and lung disease, as well as support the organization’s COVID-19 Action Initiative. The COVID-19 Action Initiative is an investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics. The initiative works with public and private entities to increase research collaboration and develop new vaccines, detection tests and treatment therapies.
Registration for the Orlando LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is $35 for adults and $25 for children. Participants will also receive discounted tickets for SeaWorld. For more information and to register, visit LUNGFORCE.org/Orlando.
