Discuss with your loved one how you can best support him/her. You want your loved one to maintain independence, but you also want to be helpful. Sometimes talking it out helps both parties express their needs. One big way you can help is by learning how to use their oxygen equipment safely.
Practice self-care. When your needs are taken care of, you can be a better caregiver. Make sure there is time for you to do what you enjoy. Eat right, exercise and get plenty of sleep. Don’t forget to stay up-to-date on your vaccinations. Staying healthy is one of the best ways you can help your loved one.
