Treatment Options

Based on your answers...

With limited stage small cell lung cancer, the cancer is only in one lung. The cancer may have spread to nearby lymph nodes but it has not spread to other organs outside of the chest. Your treatment options will likely include chemotherapy and radiation. You may be eligible for surgery, depending on the size of the tumor and whether or not it has spread the your lymph nodes. You may also receive other treatment options during the course of treating your cancer.

Select the options you would like to discuss with your doctor.

Chemotherapy:
Chemotherapy uses intravenous drugs to kill cancer cells. The treatment can kill healthy cells too which can cause side effects, which your doctor will help you manage. If you are a never smoker or have a light smoking history in the past, your doctor might want to test your tumor for certain mutations that cause your tumor to grow. If you have one of these mutations, your doctor might suggest a special type of chemotherapy called a targeted therapy that targets your mutation.
