The Upper Midwest Region thanks you for your work and leadership to achieve our mission: saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease.
The generosity of individuals and corporations in the Upper Midwest provided more than $30 million to invest in research, advocacy and education.
One of our exceptional programs is our work on childhood asthma in communities across the region. We significantly reduced asthma-related emergency department visits, hospitalizations, and school absences. As a result, children had their asthma under better control and required less medical care. Additionally, they are in school more, parents were able to go to work, and healthcare spending was drastically decreased.
In our fundraising activities, we excelled in two major areas. We exceeded $5 million in our special events due to more than 14,000 Lung Association event participants. Our grant partners provided more than $13 million to fund innovative lung disease treatment and prevention projects through the 10 states of the Upper Midwest Region.
We have many reasons to be proud, and had many successes in the fight for lung health and against lung disease. Yet we still have more work to do. We will not rest until the world is free of lung disease and we will achieve our mission, because if you can't breathe, nothing else matters.
