Cigarette Taxes in Illinois

On June 24, 2012, the state cigarette tax was raised to $1.98/pack. This state tax is in addition to the current Federal cigarette tax of $1.01/pack. A county tax is in addition to the state and federal taxes, and city taxes are in addition to the county, state and federal tax.

Currently, the City of Chicago has the 2nd highest combined cigarette tax in the country.
