LUNG FORCE Walk – Albuquerque
There was a lot of turquoise in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on Nov. 12, 2016.
That was the day of the third annual American Lung Association's LUNG FORCE Walk in Albuquerque. As in past years, the walk was a festive event that sought to raise funds and awareness for lung disease research, education and advocacy. Families and friends came together wearing their best turquoise outfits to leisurely walk the 5K route through Hoffmantown and the Albuquerque Academy Loop. The event also included team photos, a kids zone, a LUNG FORCE Heroes' tent, health information, clean air advocacy resources, prize drawings, awards and sponsor booths. There was a special tribute to our LUNG FORCE Heroes, people whose lives have been directly impacted by lung cancer. The event included more than 600 participants and volunteers, and together they raised approximately $85,000.
"The 2016 LUNG FORCE Walk in Albuquerque was an incredible success, both from the number of participants and how much was raised," said Terry Heurtaz, executive director of the American Lung Association in New Mexico. "Our force is stronger than ever in New Mexico and we are looking forward to building upon this dedication in future walks."
The Walk was sponsored in part by HME Specialists, LLC, and Richard Dowdican, one of the company's founders and president, served as the corporate chair of the event.
It was a great year for LUNG FORCE, and we can't wait to see what the future holds!
