Our special events bring in vital funding, but the visibility they provide to the community of our lifesaving health education, research and advocacy work is priceless. We are able to reach so many people who need our resources because of our special events. This year we hosted bike rides in Alaska, Oregon and Washington; stair climbs in Idaho, Oregon and Washington; LUNG FORCE Walks in Hawaii and Washington; and climbed mountains in Oregon and Washington.

Our LUNG FORCE Walk in Seattle was held at the Woodland Park Zoo in 2017. To take advantage of this unique venue, Dutch Bihary from the TV show Skin Wars and his wife Brecky, painted the faces of three local lung cancer survivors as different zoo animals. This was a wonderful opportunity for us to combine the event, the location and the skills of the body artists with this nationwide signature event for the American Lung Association.
