Smokefree Illinois

Broken Cigarette

Smokefree Illinois continues advocating for policies that reduce exposure to secondhand smoke and tobacco related disease. Current initiatives include maintaining the Smokefree Illinois Act, and working toward policies in Smokefree Housing and Tobacco-Free Campuses and Parks.

What is the Smokefree Illinois Act? As of January 1, 2008, the Smokefree Illinois Act requires that public places and places of employment must be completely smokefree inside and within 15 feet from entrances, exits, windows that open and ventilation intakes.
