More Information

Dear Past Champ Camp families and volunteers,

We wanted to make you aware of important changes happening for asthma camp in 2018 and next steps if you would like to apply for camp as a volunteer or camper.

Due to a variety of circumstances, we will not be having Champ Camp in 2018. However, we located another asthma camp in Colorado that provides an amazing site, staff and volunteers, and opportunity for campers, parents, and guardians. The camp is FREE and for campers ages 7 to 17. The asthma camp at Roundup River Ranch in Gypsum Colorado (bus transportation is available from the metro area) is from June 7 to 12. There is also a family weekend asthma camp in September.

Campers will be selected based on need. They will be taking 65-70 campers so get your application in if you are interested. Here is the both the background on the new location as well as information on how campers and volunteers need to apply for asthma camp in 2018.

As you may know, our camp location from last year was up for sale. We used this as an opportunity to assess how best to serve our campers given the rising costs of hosting the camp as well finding a new location that would provide a great experience for campers.

Our search led us to Roundup River Ranch – an amazing series of FREE medical/health-based camps for both children and children and their parents. Roundup River Ranch runs camps throughout the summer serving campers with various medical conditions, including asthma.

We have spent the last several months talking to the staff at Roundup River Ranch about opening the door for our volunteers and campers to be involved with their 2018 camp for kids with asthma. Roundup River Ranch provides an unprecedented combination of staff, volunteers and resources for campers that we know will heighten the camp experience for those formerly associated with our camp.

The camp site has a modern medical center and camp cabins along with an amazing amount of activities on site, including zip lining, climbing wall, canoeing, archery, fishing, arts and crafts, and horseback riding. And their caterer is the same one we had last year who did an amazing job with our kids.

And, thanks to our partnership with Roundup River Ranch, they will be offering asthma education for the first time this year!
