UCHealth to Sponsor Unique Conference to Support Those with Lung Disease
(September 26, 2017) -
The UCHealth will sponsor the 14th annual Dr. Thomas L. Petty Moving Mountains Conference, a day-long seminar for patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and other lung diseases, on Saturday, Oct. 7. The conference is coordinated by lung disease patients, public health professionals and businesses who make up the Colorado Lung Health Connection (CLHC) coalition. The American Lung Association in Colorado is both a member of CLHC and partner in the Moving Mountains Conference. The conference, also sponsored by Sunovion, offers support and continuing education on the latest treatments, resources, and services available to those living with lung disease.
“We are grateful to work with UCHealth in offering this conference to the 180,000 Coloradans who live with COPD and give them the tools to better manage their chronic lung disease and improve their quality of live,” said Ellen Penrod, executive director of the American Lung Association in Colorado.
This year’s Moving Mountains Conference will feature sessions lead by healthcare professionals as well as patients with lung disease, and topics range from the struggles of life with lung disease to healthcare updates to exercise examples.
“The Moving Mountains conference is a unique partnership of patients, the public health community and businesses to give patients the most up-to-date information about COPD and other lung disease,” said Jeff Thompson, vice president of government and corporate relations at UCHealth. “Conference attendees will be able to take home resources which they can directly implement into their personal care plan.”
“We are passionate about the Moving Mountains Conference because it allows patients with COPD or other lung diseases to learn as much as they can about their disease directly from health care professionals and other patients,” said Joy Grinstead, chair of the Colorado Lung Health Connection.
The Moving Mountains Conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. on Sat., October 1, at the PPA Event Center. For more information, visit Lung.org or call the American Lung Association at 303-388-4327.
