Three-Time Lung Cancer Survivor Leads Community to Fight Most Fatal Disease

OVERLAND PARK, KS – In Kansas and Greater Kansas City, lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths, killing more than 1,500 Kansas Citizens a year, half of which are women.
That’s why tomorrow evening, May 18, the American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City will bring together community leaders, artists, corporate leaders and local celebrities to support the inaugural LUNG FORCE Glam presented by The University of Kansas Health System.
In addition, LUNG FORCE Hero Christy Fischer, a three time lung cancer survivor, will share her 10-year lung cancer journey of hope and determination. More details of the event are below. Media receives complimentary admission and spokespersons are available all evening for interviews.
WHO: Hundreds of Kansas Citizens, civic and corporate leaders, and lung disease patients and their families.
WHAT: The LUNG FORCE Glam will be an evening where guests will be immersed in a celebration of breath, voice and hope. Participants will hear inspirational stories, celebrate advancements in lung cancer research, honor those who are in the fight and remember those who were taken too soon. Throughout the evening, there will be multiple ways to raise funds to continue progress in research, programs and advocacy, through a silent and live auction.

WHEN: Thursday, May 18th, 6 PM to 9:30 PM
WHY: Funds raised will make a significant impact on those affected by lung disease through research, education and patient programs. By supporting the LUNG FORCE Glam, attendees help improve the lives of patients across the country and locally in Kansas and Greater Kansas City. Almost ninety cents of every dollar raised goes directly to education, research and advocacy.
