Today, more than 700 people climbed one of the tallest buildings in Minneapolis for the American Lung Association in Minnesota’s Fight For Air Climb at U.S. Bank Plaza. The event raised more than $215,000 to fund lung cancer research and critical local programs to help Minnesotans who suffer from lung disease.
“This year in Minnesota, there will be almost 4,000 people diagnosed with lung cancer and more than 2,400 will die from the disease. Today, our community came together to fight lung disease and help raise money to fund critical lung cancer research,” said Missi Arens, the executive director for the Lung Association. “Thank you to all of our participants, sponsors and volunteers who came together to make a difference in the lives of people facing lung disease.”
For the event, local residents, first responders, corporate teams and people from across the country race up the stairs of U.S. Bank Plaza (31 floors, 680 steps) to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease.
In total, the Fight For Air Climb at U.S. Bank Plaza resulted in:
• 700 registered climbers
• 260 firefighters
• $215,000 raised and counting
The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help residents quit smoking.
