Today, the American Lung Association in Nebraska announced that the 2019 Omaha LUNG FORCE Expo will focus on e-cigarette dangers, innovative lung cancer treatments and improving care for people with lung disease.

The LUNG FORCE Expo, set for November 6 at the Scott Conference Center in Omaha, is designed for patients and healthcare professionals to learn more about the latest trends, resources and research surrounding lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma and other respiratory issues. Topics for this year’s event include e-cigarette dangers, immunotherapy in lung cancer, improving COPD outcomes, asthma self-management and more.

“By participating in the LUNG FORCE Expo, you are helping change what it means for people to live with lung disease,” said Erin Smith, health promotions specialist for the Lung Association. “Join us to learn important lung disease information, share a meaningful experience with others who are affected by lung disease, and care for yourself and others by expanding your lung disease knowledge.”

The event will feature some of the state’s leading experts in lung disease and lung cancer, including:

  • Rudy Lackner, MD, FACS, University of Nebraska Medical Center
  • Bryan Krajicek, MD, CHI Health - Bergan Mercy
  • Barbara Yawn, MD, MS, MSc, Chief Science Officer of the COPD Foundation

Healthcare professionals, as well as patients living with lung disease or lung cancer, and caregivers are invited to attend the event on November 6. The LUNG FORCE Expo Patient and Caregivers Program is at 9 a.m. and the Healthcare Professionals Program is at 7 a.m.
