Today, the American Lung Association in Iowa announced that Hubbell Realty Company made a significant investment in lung health. The company signed on for a third year as the presenting sponsor of the 15th Annual Fight for Air Climb in downtown Des Moines.

“This sponsorship is an investment in the health of our community, where we house thousands of people in numerous residential and office sites throughout Greater Des Moines,” said Rick Tollakson, president and CEO of Hubbell Realty Company. “In addition, our employees care deeply about the Lung Association for very personal reasons.”

John Bergman, Hubbell’s Vice President for Real Estate Management, is the chair of the Lung Association in Iowa’s Local Leadership Board. He has participated in the Fight For Air Climb for more than 13 years. He says he climbs for his friend Mike, who battles lung cancer.

“Mike is my inspiration. He is what fuels my passion to help make the Fight For Air Climb going and growing,” said Bergman.

Laura Montgomery, Executive Assistant at Hubbell Realty Company, participates because she has a daughter with asthma, who has difficulty managing the disease. She has climbed for two years and is the secretary for the Lung Association’s Local Leadership Board. In March, Hubbell Realty Company employee Sara Garcia is representing Iowa in Washington D.C. as a LUNG FORCE Advocate. She lost her mom to lung cancer and is joining the Lung Association to urge senators and representatives to advocate for increased funding for lung cancer research.

This sponsorship is the latest in Hubbell Realty Company’s long-term investment in lung health with the Lung Association. Hubbell Realty Company first became involved with Lung Association through the Health House program in 1991. The company has shown that it is a leader in radon protection by installing passive resistance systems in their new builds. Additionally, employees participate on the local Radon Advisory Workgroup. The Lung Association assisted Hubbell in their work to provide smoke free multi-unit housing and developments.

The Fight For Air Climb presented by Hubbell Realty Company will take place on April 8, 2018 in downtown Des Moines. On November 15, the Lung Association is hosting a Corporate Breakfast to introduce local business leaders to the Fight For Air Climb.

Registration for the 15th Annual Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 515-309-9507. Climbers can register for a discounted price of $15 before January 31, 2018.
