Hundreds Tee-Up for Springfield Golf Event, Fight Lung Disease

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Hundreds of golfers and almost 50 Springfield companies will participate in Springfield’s premier summer golf outing, the American Lung Association in Illinois’ 24th Annual Springfield Golf Classic. Media are invited to cover the event and interviews are granted upon request.

The event takes place on Monday, June 19th at the Illini Country Club, 1601 Illini Rd, Springfield, IL.

Almost 50 local area business are registered to play for bragging rights and to raise more funding than last year, about $90,000, to help fund life-saving research right here in Illinois.

Almost 200 golfers in total will tee off in foursome teams for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois Corporate Cup traveling trophy and Golf Classic Scramble.

Lung disease kills almost 10,000 Illinoisans every year. Events like the Corporate Cup raises much needed funding for life-saving lung disease research. Almost 90 cents of every dollar raised will go toward programs, education and advocacy right here in Illinois,” said Brad Leonard, Insurance Advisor, Arthur J. Gallagher, and Chair of the Golf Classic.
