Breathing should not be an uphill battle, but for many it is.  On Sunday, February 3rd at 9:00 a.m. hundreds will join the American Lung Association to climb up the Key Tower in support of friends and loved ones who suffer from lung diseases like asthma and lung cancer and raise funds for clean air and lung disease research, education and advocacy.

A unique endurance event to benefit a good cause, Fight For Air Climb participants will scale over 58 flights of stairs – that’s 1,349 steps of the tallest Building in Ohio—Key Tower at 127 Public Square Cleveland, Ohio 44114.  The Lung Association’s annual fundraiser has been reaching exhilarating heights for over 9 years in Northeast Ohio.

“This is truly a remarkable experience for both running and fitness enthusiasts, as well as our participants that are suffering from a lung disease,” said Kimberly Covey, executive director of the American Lung Association in Cleveland, Ohio.  “And is a reminder that no one should have to fight for air on a daily basis.”

Local Fire Houses will be showing their support at the end of the race by climbing the 58 flights in full firefighter gear – helmet, hood, pants, coat, gloves, boots and air pack – weighing over 45 pounds.  Firefighters have an increased risk for lung disease from the exposure to gases, chemicals and smoke in the line of duty.

Fight For Air climbers can participate individually or as a team.  Registration is $40 per participant, or $30 early registration before January 28th, 2019, and includes a $100 fundraising minimum.   For more information or to register, contact Kim Covey at [email protected], 216-532-8202, or Climbcleveland.org.

The American Lung Association of Ohio--Cleveland 2019 Fight For Air Climb is sponsored by Millennia Companies, Key Tower, Marriott Cleveland Downtown Key Tower, Sherwin Williams, Fire-Dex, Burn Boot Camp and Aligned Health Center.
