Today, the American Lung Association in Kansas & Greater Kansas City announced that Empower Retirement has made a significant investment to support their mission to improve lung health and prevent lung disease. Over the past four years, the company has given more than $80,000 to support the Lung Association’s Fight For Air Climb at One Kansas City Place.
“Empower Retirement has been a tremendous partner of the American Lung Association over the years. By supporting the Fight For Air Climb, they are helping residents all over Kansas and Greater Kansas City breathe easier,” said Linda Crider, executive director the Lung Association. “Empower Retirement’s support helps us raise awareness for lung disease, fund life-saving research, and make critical local programing possible like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.”
Empower Retirement is the second largest retirement services provider in the country. The company is based in Colorado, but its local division has a large operation outside of Kansas City, employing more than 1,000 people.
“Partnering with the American Lung Association and participating in the Fight For Air Climb over the years has been great for our company. Not only are we supporting people who face lung cancer and lung disease in the local community, but the event brings our team members together to do something healthy and fun,” said Edmund F. Murphy III, President & CEO of Empower Retirement. “We look forward to another great Fight For Air Climb this year.”
The Fight For Air Climb, set for March 1, 2020, invites individuals, families, groups of friends, corporate teams and first responders to race up the stairs of One Kansas City Place (42 floors, 902 steps) to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease. Registration for the 2019 Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 913-353-9165.
