Breathing should not be an uphill battle, but for many, including elite athlete and actor American Ninja Warrior Najee Richardson, it can be a challenge. On Sunday, March 10 at 7 a.m. Richardson will join thousands of local supporters to climb the Presidential Towers in support of all those facing lung disease.
By partnering with the Lung Association, Richardson, who has battled asthma all his life, hopes to show the world that lung disease doesn’t have to stop your dreams.
“I am proud to be the American Lung Association National Fight For Air Climb Ambassador and to support their mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease,” said Richardson. “My own asthma may slow me down at times, but I’m living proof that a lung disease does not have to derail your dreams. I want everyone to know that, together, we can defeat lung disease.”
A unique stair climb event to benefit a good cause, Fight For Air Climb participants will scale over 180 flights of stairs – that’s 2,340 steps of the Presidential Towers at 555 W Madison St. The Lung Association’s annual fundraiser has been reaching exhilarating heights for over 11 years in Chicago.
Fight For Air Climbers can participate individually or as a team. Registration is $25 per participant and includes a $100 fundraising minimum. Najee also has a virtual national Climb team for those who want to support Najee and the American Lung Association but live outside of Chicago. Virtual climbers can register at Lung.org/FlyingPhoenixClimb. For more information or to register, contact [email protected], 312-940-7001 and 720-438-8289, or visit FightForAirClimb.org.
The American Lung Association in Greater Chicago’s 2019 Fight For Air Climb is sponsored by UnitedHealthcare.
