News Advisory: Utah’s Youth Tell Legislators “We are #NotTobaccosGuineaPig”

SALT LAKE CITY (February 16, 2016) – For more information on the Utah Tobacco Free Alliance or the Outrage! Anti-Tobacco Youth Group, please contact Trudy Brereton, Outrage Advisor, Wasatch County Health Department, cell 435-671-9032 or Kaysha Price, Outrage Advisor, Southwest Utah Health Department, cell 801-318-7278.

Who: Approximately 250 youth members of OUTRAGE!, a statewide youth anti-tobacco advocacy group, and the Utah Tobacco Free Alliance (UTFA) will host a 45 minute educational program that will include presentations from members of OUTRAGE!, UTFA and medical professionals.

Why: OUTRAGE! along with two giant guinea pigs, will bring its theme #NotTobaccosGuineaPig to the Capitol to educate legislators about new tobacco products and talk about policies that will protect youth               from the dangers of tobacco use and nicotine addiction. Youth use of e-cigarettes in Utah doubled in the last two years and over 20% of kids are illegally obtaining e-cigarettes from convenience                 stores.

When: Wednesday, February 17, 2016

            Event begins at 8:30 am – 10:00 am

           Program begins at 9:00 am
