Less than ideal weather, including some pretty strong downpours couldn't stop walkers who turned out to support the American Lung Association in Wisconsin's sixth annual LUNG FORCE Walk. While rain forced many activities inside, it didn't dampen the enthusiasm of walkers and volunteers who still showed up at the Milwaukee County Zoo to walk in honor of and to support people with lung disease. Even Mother Nature cooperated at Walk time, turning off the showers long enough to let 1000+ walkers tour the zoo. The animals responded in kind by coming out in the open to greet walkers.
Walkers raised nearly $105,000 to support the American Lung Association's mission of saving lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. Donations will be accepted through the end of October.
Sami Holden of team Mama Patty shared her very moving story of losing her beloved mother to lung cancer.
For the second year in a row, Team Miels for Miles was the top fundraising team, raising $7,151. Full individual and team fundraising results can be found here.
The Lung Association would like to thank our National Sponsor – CVS, National Corporate Team Partner – Kindred Healthcare and Local Presenting Sponsor – Associated Bank, as well as all walkers, donors, volunteers and all other participants for helping make this event a huge success!
