In 2014, CVS Health became the first national pharmacy retailer to take tobacco off the shelves of its CVS Pharmacy® locations—part of their commitment to helping people on their path to better health. One of the American Lung Association's strategic imperatives is to eliminate tobacco use and tobacco-related diseases. Lung cancer is the #1 cancer killer of women and men—and, together, CVS Health and the American Lung Association have worked to raise awareness of this serious lung disease through LUNG FORCE.
National Presenting Sponsor
As a National Presenting Sponsor of LUNG FORCE since its inception in 2014, CVS Health has supported the consumer awareness program through an annual in-store fundraising campaign. During the campaign, CVS Pharmacy® customers are able to support LUNG FORCE when they donate $1, $3 or more at the register with all proceeds supporting the movement. In addition, CVS Health has engaged colleagues in LUNG FORCE Walks across the country to help raise awareness and funds for the initiative.
While anyone can get lung cancer, the number one risk factor for lung cancer is smoking. We are proud to partner with CVS Health on several programs that allow smokers in select communities across the United States free access to our proven-effective Freedom From Smoking® program. Support for these partnerships is provided through Be The First, CVS Health's five-year $50 million initiative to help deliver the nation's first tobacco-free generation and extend the company's larger commitment to helping people lead tobacco-free lives, and gets us closer to the American Lung Association’s vision of a world free of lung disease.
In addition to our focus on lung cancer awareness, we have expanded our partnership through lung disease management and treatment education and resources for providers and patients.
