Today, the American Lung Association in Wisconsin announced that Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor for the 12th annual Fight For Air Climb at the U.S. Bank Center in downtown Milwaukee. Anthem has been the Presenting Sponsor since the event’s inception, which has resulted in a significant investment that funds local programs to support clean air and healthy lungs and has launched the Milwaukee Climb to the number one spot in the nation for seven consecutive years.

The Fight For Air Climb, set for March 7, attracts thousands of Wisconsin residents from all corners of the state who race, jog or walk up the stairs of the U.S. Bank Center (47 floors, 1,034 steps) in an effort to raise awareness and money to fight lung disease. Climbers range in age from five years old to 96.

“Through events like the Fight For Air Climb, we are able to fund our work to improve air quality, educate residents on lung health and help people who suffer from lung disease,” said Megan Cordova, executive director for the Lung Association in Wisconsin. “But we can’t do it alone. Our partnership with Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield helps us provide vital support to our community. From funding asthma education, to providing resources to those suffering from lung cancer, this support makes people’s lives better every day.”

“Anthem is proud to once again partner with the American Lung Association in Wisconsin to support the Fight for Air Climb because it’s a unique and special event on Wisconsin’s philanthropic landscape and we understand the role this event plays in promoting lung health in our communities,” said Paul Nobile, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Wisconsin. “Our associates are already gearing up and raising funds for a big turnout at the Climb.”

In Wisconsin, approximately 4,150 people will be diagnosed with lung cancer this year. The Fight For Air Climb raises awareness for lung disease, raises money for life-saving research, and funds critical local programing like educational programs to help local children better manage their asthma and free programs to help locals quit smoking.

Registration for the 2020 Fight For Air Climb is currently open online or by calling 262-703-4200.
