Part Time Gala Director (WI #1920-26)

The American Lung Association has a great opportunity for a Part Time Gala Director to join our incredible team in the Upper Midwest Region. Working as a member of the Development Team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease, through research, education and advocacy.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing all revenue aspects related to the implementation of the Oxygen Ball including securing and engaging individuals, corporations and foundations.

Responsibilities

Implement Signature Event – Oxygen Ball:
  • Build and lead the volunteer Oxygen Ball Committee to engage sponsors, sell tables, and attract donors to achieve gross and net revenue goals.
  • Developing and implement strategies for identifying, recruiting, managing and stewarding high-level volunteer leaders, donors, and corporate partners.
  • Together with the Executive Director, identify and secure Co-chairs
  • Together with the Executive Director, develop a prospect list for enhanced or new engagement.
  • Together with the Oxygen Ball Committee and staff, develop and execute the theme and guest experience. Including, but not limited to: venue, décor, vendors, program, invitations, print materials, design, volunteers, and event day operations.
  • Together with the Oxygen Ball Committee secure high-value items and experiences for silent and live auction. Also, implement 3-4 additional revenue enhances that will boost the guest experience.
  • Plan/Implement two wrap around events – Gift Giving Party and Gala Committee Wrap-up Celebration
  • Utilize Lung Association database for assessment of potential donor prospects and tracking of interactions.
  • Secure 5-6+ meetings per month, with a key focus on volunteer leaders and corporate engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Non-Profit Management, Marketing, or related field required
  • Minimum of seven years fundraising experience including special event planning and management, individual & corporate giving, and non-governmental grant acquisition
  • Demonstrated success in recruiting and stewarding high level volunteers, donors, and sponsors
  • Experience with non-profit budget building and management
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment with strong organizational skills and an attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work with minimum direct supervision, make decisions, and take initiative
  • Proven ability to cultivate and steward relationships across a diverse population
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required. Must have a valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. (event supplies)
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office
