The American Lung Association has an excellent opportunity for a Coordinator, Health Promotions to join our incredible team in the Mountain Pacific Region. Working as a member of the Health Promotion & Education team, you will join an outstanding group of professionals dedicated to our mission: to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease through research, education, and advocacy.

In this role, you will be responsible to support implementation of lung health programs throughout Washington by executing grant deliverables related to tobacco prevention and control and indoor air quality. This position will also assist in planning and execution of professional education conference.  This position is grant-funded.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the project director to implement public health education programs that will focus on lung health, air quality, and tobacco prevention and control.
  • Coordinate all aspects of Wildfire Smoke Relief grant activities, including planning and implementing outreach and promotion, developing educational and marketing materials, determining participant eligibility, interfacing with program participants, distributing supplies, and supporting evaluation efforts.
  • As part of the Master Home Environmentalist program team, support grant activities, including managing social media accounts, conducting partner outreach, participating in community events, conducting educational activities, and providing general administrative support.
  • Support the planning and implementation of one Continuing Medical Education (CME) conference to serve health professionals.
  • Build, maintain and cultivate relationships with volunteers and community partners to encourage program delivery, sustainability, and growth across Washington state, including American Lung Association programs including Freedom From Smoking, Better Breathers Clubs, Asthma Basics, LUNG FORCE Expo, etc. within assigned territory.
  • Provide support for annual report, awards, grants and other activities assigned.
  • Respond to community and partner inquiries and requests.
  • Develop and effectively utilize timelines and work plans to ensure completion of program deliverables.
  • Explore opportunities to connect and enhance collaborations throughout the Lung Association.
  • Select and participate in local, state and national seminars and courses designed to increase skills and knowledge related to job requirements.
  • Participate in and support all area events as requested.
  • Serve on ALA’s regional and national workgroups and committees as requested.
  • Develop and submit timely reports as required by the association and funding sources, including but not limited to weekly updates in the American Lung Association’s (ALA) data base, quarterly reports, grant reports and program metrics reports.
  • Represent the association as a member of community, civic and/or health coalitions and organizations related to the ALA’s mission.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate’s Degree in public health or related field preferred.
  • Some experience in public health, community relations, environmental health, or related field preferred.
  • Must be a self-starter with excellent communication skills (written and oral).
  • Excellent customer service skills; ability to clearly articulate the mission and vision of the ALA.
  • Ability to multi-task in a faced paced environment.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Strong project management skills in order to research, develop, and execute specific program deliverables.
  • Strategic in developing/maintaining relationships with medical professionals, public health community, and members of the public.
  • Computer literate; knowledge using Microsoft programs helpful.
  • Ability to lift approximately 25 lbs.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends with some overnights required.  Must have a valid Driver’s license.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
