As the above map shows, the country has made great progress towards meeting the American Lung Association's Smokefree Air Challenge. Launched in 2006, the Smokefree Air Challenge calls on all 50 states and the District of Columbia to pass laws prohibiting smoking in all public places and workplaces, including restaurants and bars.
Currently, 27 states and the District of Columbia have met the Smokefree Air Challenge, including Kansas in 2010. The American Lung Association will fight in 2010 and beyond to make sure everyone in all 50 states can enjoy clean, smokefree air where they work and play.
