Fight For Air Run/Walk Charleston - October 29, 2011 - Folly Beach Pier
Make an impact in honor of the more than 35 million Americans who suffer from lung disease. The number three killer and the number one cancer killer in the United States, lung disease is responsible for a staggering one in six deaths. Join us in our mission to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease by participating in the Fight For Air Run/Walk on October 29, 2011! Bring the whole family to this professionally timed 5K, and enjoy the after party on the Edwin S. Taylor Pier on Folly Beach with breakfast provided by Locklear's, and an awards ceremony with race, costume, and fundraising awards. By joining the Fight for Air Run/Walk you are making the commitment to fight lung disease so everyone can breathe easier- including you.

Event Overview
Families, individuals and teams join together to run/walk in memory of those who have lost their battle to lung disease, to support those who are fighting lung disease, and to raise awareness of lung disease. Participants work together to fundraise.
Please join the thousands of individuals across the nation who believe in the cause and will run/walk in their communities as well.

Time: Registration begins at 8 am and the 5K Run/Walk begins at 9 am.

Stick around for food provided by Locklear's, Italian ice by Rita's, race, fundraising and costume awards, face painting, games and photo booth by Laughing Stock Photo Booth Co!

$25 Registration fee includes event participation and Fight for Air Run/Walk t-shirt, race packet, and post race party. Registration fee increases to $30 on October 23rd. Day of event registration $35 with t-shirt while supplies last. Registration for children ages 12 and under is only $15.

Packet Pick up: Friday, October 28th at the ALA office from 9am to 6pm.

Race awards given to overall top 3 males and females, top 3 males and females in each age group, and Masters Awards.

Best and most creative costume prizes also awarded in each group of family, adult, baby/toddler and child.

Highest Individual Fundraiser will receive a two-night stay at the Hilton Resort in Myrtle Beach!

Strollers and dogs are welcome at the event, but we ask that they start at the back for safety reasons. The Folly Beach Pier will not allow dogs on the pier.
*If you have participated in the Run/Walk in previous years, use your previous years' log in name and password. If you cannot remember your password the registration screen will direct you to retrieve your password. If you do not remember your user name, email CharlestonEvents@LungSC.org, and it will be sent to you. If you would prefer to pay by check or cash, please let us know and we will register for you.

Parking
Parking is available for a fee in the Charleston Country Parks & Recreation lot. Additional parking is available along the road, but be sure tires are completely off the road to avoid a ticket.

A fundraising packet is available to help you reach your fundraising goal. Check out the "Fundraising Tips" page on the home page. If you need additional help in meeting your fundraising goals, please contact our office at (843) 556-8451. The ALA staff is happy to help coach and provide fast and efficient ideas to reach your fundraising goals.
Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. The American Lung Association ® is a registered 501 (c) 3 organization. Please make checks payable to the American Lung Association.
Halloween Costume Contest
Come enjoy the Fight for Air Run/Walk dressed in your favorite Halloween costume! Prizes will be awarded for most creative and best overall costumes. Costume contest awards will be given at the post race party on the pier.
