Corporate Team Chair: John Burton

John Burton

On behalf of our team of employees and physicians at Kindred Hospital Pittsburgh, I am honored to be the Corporate Chair for the 2012 Fight for Air Climb.  Kindred Healthcare has for many years partnered with the American Lung Association at the national and local levels. Our hospitals provide medical care to critically ill patients suffering from pulmonary diseases such as pneumonia, COPD and respiratory failure.

I first volunteered with the Louisville KY Lung Association chapter in 2008.  After moving to Las Vegas, I participated in my first Fight for Airt Climb at the Stratosphere in 2010.  Our team climbed over 100 stories and finished 3rd in overall team fundraising!   I moved to Pittsburgh last March and I am excited to continue our hospital tradition of supporting this great cause.

Good luck to everyone and I look forward to seeing you at the top of the Oxford Center in March!

2012 Family Team Chair:  Stacey Enck

Family Team Chair

I have been honored to represent the American Lung Association during the 2012 Stair Climb as the Family Team Chair.  This will be my second consecutive year participating in the Fight for Air Climb.  In 2011, I was the Top Fundraising Individual and the Captain of the Third Top Fundraising Team.  I was honored to receive both of these recognitions.

The 2011 Climb was very emotional for me.  In July of 2010, I lost my father to a brutal battle with Lung Cancer.  Watching his journey through this disease was absolutely heart wrenching for me.  I felt completely helpless and empty.  After his loss, I wrestled within myself about trying to find a positive way to honor my Dad’s memory.  When the opportunity to participate in the Stair Climb was presented to me, it was a perfect fit for me!  I knew that the climb up the steps in the Gulf Tower would represent my Dad’s daily struggle for air.

I took fundraising straight to heart for this event.  I never want another heart to be broken by lung disease again.  Whether is yourself, a sister, a mother, a brother, a father, or friend, lung disease in any form not only compromises the patients lungs, it breaks hearts.  I challenge you to join me during the climb this year at the Oxford Center.  The event will take your breath away!  I also challenge you to beat me fundraising.  Every penny that you collect will help find a cure for lung disease and broken hearts!
