Schedule of Events
Thank you so much for signing up for our 2012 Fight for Air Climb! This is really exciting! As we get close to our climb, I wanted to provide a brief update/reminder on some information.
DATE OF EVENT: Saturday, January 28, 2012
WHERE: Rhodes Tower (Rhodes State Office Tower) – 30 East Broad Street
PACKET PICKUP: Wednesday, January 25, at FrontRunner, 1344 West Lane Ave. Columbus, between 12 pm and 3pm; Thursday 26th and Friday 27th at FrontRunner, 1344 West Lane Ave. Columbus, between 3 pm and 6 pm; all others at event on Saturday January 28th beginning at 8 am
EVENT DAY DOORS OPEN: 8:00 am
BIB NUMBERS: This is currently being organized, however, we anticipate all Climbers will be off between 9:15 am and 10:45 am. Bib number will reflect Climb order. Climbers will be notified of bib number (approximate climb time) via email message on or by the end of day Monday, January 23. Once you receive your bib number (climb time), we will ask that you arrive no later than about 45 minutes prior to your estimated climb time in order to check in, stretch and become oriented with the layout.
WELCOME/INTRO BY KEVIN READEY AND RAYMONT HARRIS: Approximately 9 am
FIRST CLIMBER OFF: Approximately 9:15 am
LAST CLIMBER OFF: Approximately 10:45 am
CLIMBER RELEASE: We will send up Climbers one at a time approximately every 10-20 seconds. Team members will be organized together so that they Climb one after another.
GETTING DOWN: You only climb up, we’ll have the elevators to take you back down!!
PARKING: In State Office Underground Parking Lot – enter from S. Third St. or E. State St. – take tunnel walkway into sub-level of Rhodes Tower, take escalator up to main lobby level to registration/check-in area. Fee is currently $4 for up to 5 hrs.
FUNDRAISING: Please remember, this is our largest fundraising event of the year and meeting the $100 minimum in fundraising is required to perform the Climb. Sponsorship can be made to you directly on-line or you may bring sponsorship cash or checks with you to the event and provide them at check-in.
REFRESHMENTS: Healthy refreshments will be provided
SECURE ITEM AREA: We will have a secure ‘coat-check’ like area that will be staffed by ALA volunteers. Since most people will be parking in the underground lot and will not be outside from their car to the lobby, we recommend leaving as much personal items in your vehicle as possible.
AWARDS FOR INDIVIDUALS AND TEAMS: Awards will be presented at a separate awards ceremony in March. Additional information will be included in your ‘goodie-bag’ upon packet pick-up.
