The Walk start is about 200 yards southwest of the Bowling Green stop, the same distance west of the Whitehall Street stop, and also the same distance northwest of the South Ferry stop. Please see the map which follows for additional information.
If you are driving, the area is best accessed via the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel from Brooklyn, or via West Street or the FDR Drive from Manhattan and points north. There are commercial parking areas at 17 Battery Place, 50 Battery Place, the Ritz Carlton Hotel at 2 West Street, and in the surrounding area.
Check-in
Walker Check-in will begin at 9:00am. There will be fruit, energy bars, and water available for all participants.
At check-in, you can turn in any cash or checks that you have collected for the Walk. If you have raised more than $100, you will be able to pick up your official Walk t-shirt
The Course
The Walk route is a 3 mile loop starting at Castle Clinton and going north along the Hudson River Promenade. The course loops around Stuyvesant High School and returns to the start via the Esplanade. A course map is available here (350k jpg). Volunteers will be on hand along the course to provide assistance. The Walk will be held rain or shine. Walkers may take as long as they wish to walk the course.
Appropriate Attire
It is suggested that walkers wear comfortable clothing appropriate for walking and for the weather forecast.
Medical
Medical staff will be on-site for any issues or problems. In case of an emergency, contact the closest volunteer to reach the emergency medical personnel.
Water Station and Rest Areas
There will be a water station at the northern end of the course, behind Stuyvesant High School. Please feel free to stop and rest at any time along the course using the park benches and other rest areas.
Restrooms
Porto-pots are available in the start/finish area near Castle Clinton.
