The FIRST TIME
you attempt to use your social networking account on this site, you will have to:
1. Log into your social networking site.
2. Give permission for the American Lung Association (ALA) to access your social networking profile.
3. Validate your social network profile by either LINKING it to a new or existing LungUSA.org online account.
Existing Accounts
If you already have a LungUSA.org website account or if you have ALREADY REGISTERED FOR THIS EVENT: During the social networking validation step, select the option labeled “Have an account already? Log in here”.
New Accounts
If you DON’T already have a LungUSA.org website account: During the social networking validation step, verify the information that was obtained from your social networking site and click “Register”.

4 Ways to Participate

Start a Team
Choose this if you would like to start your own team for your friends, family, or company. You will have the opportunity to set up your team, create a team page, and also have a personal fundraising page.
Join a Team
Choose this if you want to join a team that has already been set up by your team captain. You will be able to see how your fundraising supports your team and you will also be able to have a personal fundraising page. Even if you join a team, you are still required to raise the minimum fundraising amount for an individual.
Join as an Individual
Choose this if you are not starting or joining a team and would prefer to participate as an individual. You will be able to set up a personal fundraising page to share with your friends to support your fundraising efforts.
Volunteer
If you prefer not to participate but would rather volunteer for the event, click here. You will still be able to join a team and set up a personal fundraising page if you wish to raise money for the event.

3 Ways to Donate

Sponsor a Climber
Choose this if you would like to donate to a specific individual. Your donation will increase the fundraising total for the specific individual. If that individual is on a team, it will also increase the team's fundraising total. You will be able to search for a specific participant to which to donate.
Donate to a Team
Choose this if you would like donate to a team and not a specific participant. Your donation will increase the team fundraising total but not a specific individual on the team. You will be able to search for a specific team to which to donate.
Donate to the Event
Choose this if you would like to donate to the overall event and not to a team or individual. Your donation will increase the fundraising total on the event thermometer but will not support a specific team or individual participant. You will not be able to search for a specific team or individual participant to which to donate.

PACKET PICKUP!

PACKET PICKUP IS AT MACY'S (AT MEADOWOOD MALL) ON THE 2ND FLOOR IN THE WOMEN'S ATHLETIC DEPT. ON FRIDAY, APRIL 13 FROM NOON TO 6PM.
YOUR PACKET WILL CONTAIN YOUR BIB, T-SHIRT AND A FEW OTHER SURPRISES.
YOU WILL NEED A BIB TO RECEIVE YOUR CHIP TIMER THE DAY OF THE CLIMB.
YOU WILL GET TO CHOOSE YOUR T-SHIRT SIZE.
YOU MAY PICK UP YOUR FRIENDS OR TEAM MEMBER PACKETS, IF THEY ARE REGISTERED/PAID.
IF YOU CANNOT MAKE PACKET PICKUP, NO WORRIES! JUST COME TO THE EVENT ON SUNDAY AND YOU CAN PICK UP YOUR PACKET THERE!
WE ADVISE PICKING UP YOUR PACKET ON FRIDAY, DUE TO LONG LINES FORMING AT THE EVENT.

What is the Fight for Air Climb and how do my donations help?
With the generous support of people like you, the American Lung Association in Nevada saves lives by fighting for healthy lungs and healthy air. Today, our fight is more important than ever. Eighty-one cents of every dollar raised by our organization goes directly to education, research and advocacy. Fight for Air Climbs are unique fundraising events for the American Lung Association. They usually happen in prominent skyscrapers, stadiums or arenas and involve climbing multiple steps. Sometimes called a "vertical road race", teams and individual participants can use the event as a fitness target, as a race, with you challenging yourself or you racing against other people, or as a great way to be active and meet new friends. We know a lot about lung disease, but there is so much we don't know. Your participation will raise the funds necessary to provide life saving education, research and advocacy so we can beat lung disease and soon find a cure.

What are the different registration and participation categories?
Elite (fast!) Climber (fee: $25)
Individual Climber (fee: $25)
Company Team (fee per team member: $25)
Friends/Family Team (fee per team member:$25)

NEW THIS YEAR: Fight Like a Fire Fighter Challenge! This participation type competes directly with the fire fighters by wearing a pack or weighted vest that weighs in at 35-40 lbs. You will be timed against all fire fighters. Fastest participant will wins Grand Prize.

NEW THIS YEAR: Tough Enough for Two Challenge! This participation type will ascend the 36 floors of the Silver Legacy, return down via elevator or escalator, and then go back up the stairwell to climb the 36 floors again. A 10-minute rest (only) will be allowed between the two ascents. Fastest participant will wins Grand Prize.

How can I get in shape for this event?!
Beginning on Saturaday, March 3 and going through Saturday, April 7 - from 9-10 AM - there will be free training at Sierra Strength & Speed! Take advantange of the amazing offer to be trained by certified training professionals. You will learn amazing tips that will help you compete in the Climb. Located at 3760 Barron Way.

When does online registration cut off?
Online registration cuts off on Wednesday, April 11 at Noon. Registration will be made available at Packet Pickup (at Macy's) on Friday, April 13 from noon to 6 PM. Event day registration will be available Sunday, April 15 from 9:00-9:45 AM.

Can my child join me in the Climb?
The Climb is open to all participants age 12 and over.

What time should I be there?
The Climb Expo area opens at 9 AM. Vertical race begins at 10:00. We advise being at the event in the Expo Area no later than 9:30 so you are ready and in line for your start time.

Directions to the event and where should I park?
The Silver Legacy Resort Casino is located in downtown Reno at 407 North Virginia Street. The Event Expo area and Climb start line are on Fourth Street between West and Sierra Streets (Fourth Street will be closed off between West and Sierra for this event). City public parking is available along with parking at the Silver Legacy.

What is a team captain?
Being a team captain is easy. Captains gather together a few friends or family members and encourage them to participate in the event together. Each team captain helps to coordinate the online registration of these friends as well as setting a goal for the team overall. Team Captains should encourage their participants to personalize their fundraising pages, send e-mails to other friends and family, hit their overall goals, show up to the event and have a great time. Some team captains organize gatherings before or after the climb for their team members, but this is not required. Sometimes the team captain serves as a representative at the annual event kickoff luncheon. In short, we need help to rally the troops and the best people for the job are always our team captains.

How many people need to be on a team?
All teams must have a minimum of three participants to qualify as a team. Team times will be the average of the top three finishers on a specific team.

Fundraising to help our cause:
All participants pay a $25 entry fee to help cover the costs of producing this event for the public. In addition all participants commit to raising an additional $75 towards our cause. This is easier than you think - as easy as asking seven people for ten bucks. Fundraising information is available to help you reach your fundraising minimum -- check out the "Get Involved" tab on the main menu of this website. If you need additional help, don't hesitate to contact our office: 775.829.5873. Our office is happy to brainstorm with you and provide fast and efficient ideas to reach your fundraising requirement. Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowable by the law. The American Lung Association is a registered 501 (c) 3 organization. Our tax ID # is: 860111676. Please make checks payable to the American Lung Association in Nevada.

Where is Packet Pickup?
Packet Pickup will be held at Macy's in Meadowood Mall on Friday, April 13 from noon to 6PM. Your packet will contain your racing bib, t-shirt and a few other surprises. You must have your bib to receive your chip timer the day of the climb.

What do I bring with me on the day of the event?
Please bring any fundraising dollars you have collected and not yet turned in. Please bring a roster of your team members if you are the captain as well as how much each person raised if not already online. You may wish to bring a bottle of water and wear sunscreen depending on the conditions for the day, but most importantly, please bring a positive attitude and lots of energy!

Are pets allowed?
We love your pets almost as much as you do, but pets are not allowed at this public event. Sorry Sugar, Tink and Lilli! You have to stay home! :o(
