The Fight For Air Climb takes place on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at the Accenture Tower in downtown Minneapolis. Participants, individuals or teams, climb 660 stairs to fight lung disease. All climbers are timed using state-of-the-art chip timing technology to ensure accurate results, but you don't need to be a star athlete to participate.
The average climb time is under 15 minutes, and all ages and abilities are welcome. After you finish your climb, relax and enjoy breakfast and refreshments at the After Party Celebration. Climbing to the top is only the start; you are making a difference and fighting lung disease!
Climb Categories
30 Floor Climb - Climb 30 floors, 660 steps, to the top of the Accenture Tower.
Ultimate Climb - Climb the tower as many times as you can between the hours of 7 - 8 a.m. and combine your times. Climbs are intended to be consecutive. Elevator time will be removed from timing results.
Fire Department Challenge- Teams of four or more firefighters will compete in their FULL GEAR excluding their ax. Click here for more details regarding the Firefighter Challenge!
Corporate Challenge - Teams of four or more from the same company can work together for a common goal. Fuel the fun and competition in your work place by creating multiple teams!
Family/Friend Challenge - Teams of four or more family/friend members compete. Fuel the fun, competition and healthy lifestyle while making great memories!

Registration fee is due at the time of registration and is non-refundable. Climbers have until event day to meet their minimum fundraising requirement. Climbers who have not met their fundraising minimum on event day will need to pay the outstanding amount in order to participate in the climb. Pledges made to the American Lung Association on behalf of climbers who cancel or do not participate are non-refundable.
Our online fundraising tools make fundraising quick and simple. You can personalize your webpage with a photo and text about what motivates you to climb. Fundraising Minimum:In addition to the registration fee, there is an additional fundraising minimum. That minimum is different depending upon the category you choose to register in. There is a $100 per person fundraising minimum due on or before the event. This is required in order to partcipate in the event. The fundraising can be done on an individual basis or collectively as a team.
For example: 4 team members X $100 per person = $400. This $400 can be raised by each individual team member or collectively amongst the team.
Course and Start Times: The Fight For Air Climb has three different start times. The Ultimate Climb category begins at 7 a.m. and ends at 8 a.m. The regular Climb begins at 8 a.m. and the Firefighter Challenge begins at 10 a.m. Climbers take off in 10 second intervals creating staggered starts. The Fight For Air Climb is a timed event. Water stations are provided in the concourse area and throughout the stairwells. The stairwells turn to the left. While climbing, please pass on the right hand side.
Wave Assignment and Check-in: One week before the event, climbers are assigned a Wave number. Waves begin every 15 minutes and climbers will be asked to line up 15 minutes prior to their wave starting times. Climbers within each wave are then released into the stairwell individually in 10-second intervals.
All participants should arrive one hour before their designated Wave start time to check-in and warm-up.
