The 2012 Fight For Air Run/Walk Detroit will take place on Saturday, September 22, 2012 in Belle Isle Park in Detroit, Michigan.  Belle Isle is America’s Largest City-Owned Island Park.  The name, Belle Isle means beautiful island and is home to many beautiful and historical attractions.  The island is situated on America’s busiest inland waterway and provides views of both the Detroit and Canada skyline.  The island has over 5 miles of scenic shoreline.   For more information about this beautiful historic Detroit treasure by clicking here.

Event Overview

Each year, too many lives are lost to lung disease and this is your chance to walk, raise money and make an impact in their honor. By joining the Fight for Run/Walk you are making the commitment to fight lung disease so everyone can breathe easier- including you!

Families, individuals and teams join together in a run or walk to raise awareness for the 35 million Americans who suffer from asthma, COPD, lung cancer and other lung diseases. Participants work together to fundraise. Please join the thousands of individuals across the nation who believe in the cause and will walk in their communities as well.
 
You can get involved by:

Registering as a Team Captain
Joining an existing Team as a new registrant
Signing up as an individual registrant
Sponsoring the event
Joining the event planning committee
Making a contribution supporting a registrant
Volunteering to be event support

Registration

Both individual and team registration options are available.

Online registration will be available until Monday, September 17 at 1 pm.  After 1 pm, registrants will need to plan to register the morning of the event.  Registration (adult) will be $30 for both walkers and runners on the day of the event.

T-Shirt sizes cannot be guaranteed for anyone registering after Friday, August  31st at Noon.   T-Shirts are included with your registration fee.

VOLUNTEERS & REGISTRANTS: Parking is available near the Band Shell (Remick Music Shell).  View the park map or look for signage when entering the park.

Fundraising

We encourage you to fund raise at least $100 toward the cause.  This is easier than you think!  It is as easy as asking 10 friends for $10.  Coaching packets and trainings are available.  Please contact our office for more details at 248-784-2000.  
 
Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the law. The American Lung Association ® is a registered 501 (c) 3 organization. Please make checks payable to the American Lung Association in Michigan.

AWARDS   

Individuals and teams challenge themselves to raise money, beat the clock, and be the best.  While raising money to fight lung disease is our top priority, we know all of our runners, walkers and teams work hard to meet whatever challenge they set for themselves. 

Select Awards will be awarded the day of the event after both the run and walk have finished.  Additional awards will be handed out at a later date. 

All participants will be divided into the following age groups for award purposes:
13-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+

Awards will be given to participants in each of the following categories:

 Fundraising prizes are available to all participants in the walk or run.  Team Prizes Awarded to the Team Captain.
