First Responders

 

DETROIT FIREFIGHTER CHALLENGE INFORMATION:

FIREFIGHER AND FIRST RESPONDER TEAM CAPTAINS: When registering please make sure you select your team division type (firefighter or first responder) as well as entering your company name during registration.

FIREFIGHTER FULL GEAR CHALLENGE

All Firefighter Challenge participants are timed during their vertical climb to reach the top of the 70th floor of the Marriott Tower of the Renaissance Center and are to wear full structural firefighting personal protective equipment which meets current NFPA standards. 

This includes: Boots, turnout coat and pants, helmet, gloves, and SCBA harness with air cylinder. SCBA face pieces and hoods do not need to be worn. Firefighters will not be on air. 

All climbers must raise a minimum of $100 to participate in addition to their registration fee.

If you are a firefighter wishing to climb without full gear, you can register for the Firefighter Climb as a Firefighter Team or individual and are encouraged to wear your Bunk Shirts.

FIREFIGHTER CLIMB (NO GEAR)

This is the firefighter option for firefighters who want to climb with their team or as an individual, but not climb in full gear (see Firefighter Full Gear Challenge for what qualifies as full gear).  You will still be able to climb with your team mates, but your time will be scored for non full gear awards.

All climbers must raise a minimum of $100 to participate in addition to their registration fee.

FIRST RESPONDERS

All Police, EMS, EMT or Armed Forces officers wanting to compete are asked to register for the FULL CLIMB and have your team captain designate your Team Division as First Responder and Company as your Municipality, Company, Branch, etc. 

All climbers must raise a minimum of $100 to participate in addition to their registration fee.

Firefighter Awards:

Highest Fundraising Firefighter Team – The team who raises the most funds by the close of fundraising will be awarded a “Traveling Trophy” to take back to their fire house for 2012 and the coveted 1st Fire Team to Climb the Ren Cen slot in 2013.

Fastest Firefighter Full Gear Challenge Team - Note:  This is not a relay.  Team average will be determined by taking the top three times of individuals from each team, no matter how large or small the team.

Fastest Male/Female Climber in Each Age Group for Firefighter Challenge - Age Groups:  Under 40 years; 40 years and above.
