How do I register?
You can register online or you can call our office to register over the phone during normal business hours Monday-Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm at (515) 309-9507.
How do my donations help?
With the generous support of people like you, the American Lung Association in Iowa saves lives by fighting for healthy lungs and healthy air. Today, our fight is more important than ever. Eighty-seven cents of every dollar raised by our organization goes directly to education, research and advocacy. Check us out at www.lungia.org or www.lung.org
What is Fight for Air Walk?
The Fight for Air Walk is a 1 or 3.1 mile walk (5K) at Principal Park (i-Cubs Ballpark) in Des Moines. Attracting people of all ages, the Fight for Air Walk gives you the power to improve the air we breathe. Participate as an individual or create a team of friends, family and co-workers. Walk the entire course or just some of it- it's up to you. However you choose to participate, you can be proud you have chosen to Fight for Air! We are a rain-or-shine event.
What time should I be there?
- 8:00 AM - Registration Opens
- 9:00 AM - Walk Begins
We ask that participants arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your walk time. This gives you time to check in/turn in donations, visit our vendors and line up to walk!
The walk will begin at Principal Park at 9 AM. Please plan to park near gate C in the ballpark parking lot. Handicap parking is readily available.
Where is the start line?
The start line will be near Gate D.
Being a team captain is easy and fun!
Captains gather together a few friends, co-workers or family members and encourage them to participate in the event together. Each team captain helps to coordinate the online registration for their team as well as setting a fundraising team goal.
Team Captains should encourage their participants to personalize their fundraising pages, send e-mails to other friends and family, reach their overall goals, show up to the event and have a great time. Some team captains organize gatherings before or after the walk for their team members, but this is not required.
Does your company want to become more involved? Please contact us to schedule a kick off on-site at your business! Events@LungIA.org or 515-309-9507.
There are two options. Participants can choose to walk a 1-mile or a 3.1 mile (5K) walk.
What do I bring with me on the day of the event?
- Any fundraising dollars you have collected and not yet turned in.
- A roster of your team members if you are the captain as well as how much each person raised if not already online.
- Bring a positive attitude and lots of energy!
